Summer is my favorite time of the year and camping is my favorite outdoor activity. We usually make reservations with a group of 10-30 people so I was corrected just recently that we don't go camping but "isolated partying."
We spend about half our summer weekends running away to beauty that is not far away. Our favorite camp spot is at Zion National Park.
We stay in Springdale, UT which is right outside of Zion. It is a quaint town with hotels, campgrounds, beds and breakfasts, cottages, small shops and restaurants.
We stay at Zion Canyon Campground and RV Park right on the Virgin River. For those that don't enjoy camping as much they also have a hotel on site. This is one of the few areas that you can get OK cell service!
Since we mostly camp, we make our own food but on occasion we venture out to Zion Pizza & Noodle Co. The atmosphere, food and service is great!
With perfect driving conditions, Zion is only 2-2.5 hour drive from Las Vegas.
There is so much to do in Zion from Hiking, Visiting the Museum, Catching an IMAX Movie, Bicycling, Walking the Narrows and tubing the Virgin River.
Pets are not allowed in campgrounds unless you have an air conditioned RV.
If you need a quick weekend getaway from Sin City, I highly recommend Zion!

That looks like a neat place Renee. What do you camp in? Jay and I tent camped up until 2002. We'd pack the tent, the kayaks, bikes and a good cooler and off we'd go. Now we have a motor home and usually camp with a small group of friends. We love it.
I hear you! Our friends had a used Motor home when we had a tent.
We had a BIG tent, I used to call it the penthouse LOL. We also had a small very expensive tent that fit in our kayaks for wilderness, all weather-extreme weather Island camping. I think we spent more money on the tent than all our our camping gear put together. One year we flew to the Florida keys with the tent in our luggage...and camped on the beach. Oh was that fun! One night a bad storm came in..real bad and we were on the water. Our tent was the only tent that survived that storm! I guess it was worth the mega bucks we paid.
isolated aprtying.... LOL.
I like it.
Renee~
Like y'all, I love Zion. This post reminded me why I do! The fact that it is "in your neighborhood" so to speak, makes me wish I lived nearby...well...maybe that this extravaganza of Nature were a little closer so that I could visit more often.
Monika: ROFL! Your new motor home is so awesome though. Do you ever miss the tent?
Maggie: OH YES YOU CAN!
Jeff: Are y'all going to stop in Zion? You are driving to West Virginia? WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! We are driving Mike's mom out to Nebraska to move and I am dreading that one!
David: So awesome, I can't even tell you in words!
Tom: When are you joining us?
janeAnne: We are so lucky and I am so appreciative!
