Nevada Real Estate >> Las Vegas Real Estate Specialist: Would most of us pass the marshmallow test?

Would most of us pass the marshmallow test?

If you're a real estate professional, do you think you could pass the marshmallow test?

You know you can get a deal closed and make good money.  But you also know that the likelihood of your buyers being able to keep the home is unlikely if they buy now instead of in the future when their income or credit is better.  You've been in this position and you may have tried to justify it. So I ask: Would you pass the marshmallow test by doing the right thing in hopes of more good referral business (more marshmallows)? Or do you eat the one and only marshmallow now and make money?

Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody else is looking.

Yes, I would absolutely pass the marshmallow test!  I can sleep at night - and I value this greatly!

It is easy to answer and it is what you do not what you say!

Me too!  I am with Karin - I sleep well at night.  Life is much too short to ever give up on your integrity.

Thanks Nevin for the fun and light-hearted post. It is a bit of a stretch comparing this to real estate but I get your point. Good luck.

Cute post and a good mid-week reminder to retain our values. Thanks fo the upper!

Karin - LOL me too!

Tim - I agree!

Paula - Sleeping well is a great feeling isn't it?

Melissa - You bet.  It certainly is but the principle is the same..wait for the big payoff or take what you can get right now.  Decisions we make in life and the results!

Nevin- great analogy. Doing the right thing IS the only wya. But not always so easy to do. Keeping our clients' interests first and foremost is key.

Wanda - I agree but I guarantee there are some who will read this blog who ate the first marshmallow.  Of course they will never admit it!

Jeff - Thanks!  I thought the video was hilarious and it inspired me to use it as an analogy.  Great meeting up with you Monday!

It's more important to do the right thing by yourself and your clients. In the end, doing the right thing will pay off much better than if you don't do the right thing. I'd pass the marshmallow test and I know you would too!

A saying repeated by my parents to me and my siblings, "Nobody can take your integrity away, you can only give it away". Best advice ever! Thanks for the smiles, great vidoe!

Kathy - That is great advice from your parents.  Smart people!

Nevin:  Absolutely fantastic post!  Very original and thought provoking!  The looks of frustration and determination on some of those kids faces was priceless.  The lessons we learn in our childhood about right and wrong really doesn't change much when we are adults, do they?  Same predicaments ... we're just older with more serious outcomes.

Hi Gene!  Thank you for the kudos!  You understand my point exactly and I loved this video.  Made me laugh and then inspired me to blog about the "lesson" in this video.
