I love Pacific Beach and just spent a glorious weekend there in a vacation rental condo across the street from Fanuel Park and Mission Bay. It was about 4 or 5 blocks from the ocean.
Since I live in a "touristy" area already I just love going to the beach (no Sea World or Zoo for me) when I am in San Diego and Pacific Beach is my all time favorite.
I was afraid it would be a little too chilly for me coming from 100-ish temps that I am used to and experiencing San Diego's upper 60's that were forecasted. One thing I forgot is the humidity makes it feel warmer so it was definitely tolerable.
I decided to exit my 2 year boogie board retirement and retry. I ate it pretty good and have a nice shiner as a reminder today.
We were entertained by the creations of "The Sand Castle Man".
After a great dinner at Nick's at the Beach we watched the Sea World fireworks on the roof top deck of the condo.
On Saturday we went back to the beach (surprise surprise) and my daughter and I encountered some jellies and each of us got stung (me twice). I guess upon reading some San Diego online news sources they are really Sea Nettle and are rare but there were a lot on Saturday and not necessarily Friday. I guess I can cross "getting stung by a jellyfish" off of my bucket list. Didn't hurt as bad as I would think it would - just felt like someone snapped a giant rubber band across my leg.
Since our experience at Nick's at the Beach was awesome the night before (food and service rocks) we went back there for dinner.
We rounded out our stay and day on Sunday with lunch at PB Bar and Grill and then shopping down Garnet St to Crystal Pier.
Today I am dealing with post-San Diego depression. Love Pacific Beach and definitely have set our sights on retiring there............. some day.

Renee - Mmmm?? Living in Hot 115 degree weather having your dress clinging from the heat, you might like that, whilst shoing property. Or getting stung by a jelly, looking out for the looming shark, stepping on a sea urchin...
Where is the pic of the shiner?
What a choice.
Ken: LOL I actually do have a picture of the shiner. I bit it on my knee
Why wait till retirement? You could sell real estate in Pacific Beach instead of Las Vegas. Go for it!
Sounds divine Renee! All except the sea nettle. I've been stung by a jellyfish and I remember it hurting a lot!!
The jellies were out in the Atlantic this week too Renee. It only hurts for 30 minutes and not that bad as you say. Sounds like you had a great time!
I want to live with the ocean in front, the mountains behind, a lake on my left and a river on my right with just the right weather to enjoy those things all year long AND the money to buy the free time to indulge :-)
That is an ouchy. I interpret shiner as "eye shiner". Like when I was in high school many many years many years back.
Renee - It sounds like you had an awesome time at Pacific Beach even though you got a shiner and stung by a jellyfish.
Renee....it is great there .....water is usually a little bit cool there !!!
Gosh, Renee, I'm feeling your pain....just call it post beach partum. Let's get the goverment to help us figure out what causes it. Do a big study of it - right there at Pacific Beach maybe.
I volunteer to spend some time at the beach, then part, then post. If paid enough, I'd be... um... willing to do it repeatedly.
San Diego is a great place. I used to go golfing every year down there at Torrey Pines.
Yep, San Diego is near "paradise" in terms of weather and beach-type environment. Glad you had some good down-time, good exercise/recreation, and some good eats!
I'd say a shiner and a jelly fish sting or two were worth it! Sounds like you agree since you now dream of retiring in Pacific Beach!
;-)
Hi Renee. Oh my goodness. That looks sore. At least you had fun. I love San Diego too.
Renee - sounds like you had a great time, despite the weather not being at its best. Love the pics. Sorry about the shiner, but coulda been worse. HOpe you enjoyed some good food. Wouldn't be hard to do in that area, now, would it?!
Was fun to see you again at RainCamp
Jeff
It was so cold that I had to buy a jacket, leather at that.
We spent the day in La Jolla, I think I like the homes overlooking the bay. Good to hear that you are back home and all is well.
Hi renee - Ahhh San Diego. My second home (for now). I used to boogie board when I lived in Carlsbad. Now that I have taken up surfing I get beat up big time. Flying off of the surfboard and getting thrown around like a rag doll by the waves.....I love it!
Good job Renee - a war wound means you're a trooper!
Renee, "cowabunga" is all I have to say!
Hey Girl! Glad to have had the opportunity to meet you last week! Sounds like you had a great time in PB! I totally forgot about the jellyfish! They have been here for a few weeks and IN DROVES! More than we have had in a long time! Where is the picture of your black eye? While you were out here, we were out there at Lake Mohave and went for the heat. WHERE WAS IT?? It was a cool 103 at it's hottest and Monsooned on us Saturday night!
Now, back to work.......
I love going there, too. I like Seaport Village with Ben and Jerry's and the tuna fish sandwiches with mustard.
Hey, Bob #3, I love Renee... but out in Vegas... We don't need her kind of competition. :-)
But seriously, wait, that was serious, wait until retirement!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Well hello Renee and Vegas Bob is so sorry he missed this "Happy" post and I also love San Diego and would love to have a Condo down there when I retire. Great post and "Featured" at one of my favorite groups ...
HAPPY AT ACTIVERAIN
VB ;-)
