November 11th is a Federal holiday, in which it has been called Veterans Day. Veterans Day shouldn't be the only day to be a proud American and to honor Veterans. I have been very fortunate to have never lost anyone close to me during War time or even during 911. My thoughts and prayers go out to those loved ones lost during these emotional times. For many of you that know me, I am very passionate about our Country, who we are as a Nation, and for what we stand for. I have had the pleasure of serving in the US. Army for 2 years and I will never forget that part of my life. I was stationed at Ft. Stewart, Ga, from 1986 to 1988.
Over the years here on Active Rain, I have read many Verterans Day posts and I wanted to share some with you. Some share some very good stories and are very touching. Some of these posts are tributes to the men & women that have served, both past and present :
In our busy lives today, take at least 5 minutes and reflect, thanking those that served us, keeping us free and out of harms way. Thank a Veteran today... and if you know of any, please pass this post onto them.

Jeff, I never lose sight of this day in my prayers for all veterans do and the struggle they have in life afterwards. 1 out of 4 veterans are in the homeless community which is a devastating number that needs to be addressed by all communities and our government. Thank you for this.

One year ago today my family said our good-byes to my brother who was deploying to Afghanistan. Today I am very thankful as he is now on his way home!!
