Nevada Real Estate >> Las Vegas Real Estate Specialist: Here It Comes! That January Snow in Las Vegas!

Here It Comes! That January Snow in Las Vegas!

Here comes the snow that we have been "promised" all week long. It is descending on Red Rock Canyon.

The National Weather Service is saying the valley floor will get about two inches and the western foothills (that's me that's me) will probably see more! (edited to add: they just changed it to the eastern side of Vegas :sad face:)

I hope it starts before the kids get out of schools. Most of the middle and high schools have open air commons areas and I love to hear the stories when my kids get home.

I hope we get enough to go sledding at Desert Breeze Park late tonight! It's so cool because people come from all over and I love to see adults that have come from places like Hawaii and Cali - who have never seen the snow - turn into little kids again!

It's gonna be below freezing the next three to five nights so we have the palm trees wrapped, turning off the sprinklers, & keeping the pool on (can't wait to get that electric bill!) These houses are definitely not built to withstand cold conditions for a prolonged period of time.

Won't all those tourists coming here for the three day MLK holiday weekend be shocked?

All the Best,
Renee Burrows

You guys are so lucky!  We have had only one snow storm here in Chicago.  That is a first I have never seen that happen since I came to IL.  I didn't know Las Vegas got snow?  Is that something common?

Blanca:  not really common.  We live in the western foothills and we will get it maybe once a year.  We did get about 4 or 5 inches a couple of years ago!

Tom:  One inch will paralyze this city too!

Snow!  How fun and exciting for the residents of Las Vegas!  It is delightful to see the child-like joy and excitement that snow brings out in most people!  My fingers are crossed that you get a couple of inches for the weekend (snow is terrible for commuters!) to enjoy and play in...then a warm up so the roads clear for Monday commute!  The roads are terribly icy here in Seattle...I'm staying home at my home office (lucky me!) because I have a very steep road from my driveway and it's all ice!

Post more photos when you get snow!

Well it is only cold and only flurries so far!  It looks as if it is snowing heavily in the northwest portion of the valley and I took pictures but haven't uploaded them yet.

Gee.... I see Blanca crying.....   PEOPLE.... I saw a flurry the other day. That was the first sign of snow that we have had this winter season. And Vegas has had more than me already"  And expecting more?  Damn, what is this world coming to?  lol

I wonder if it has anything to do with this....  :  What's happening to the land around us.........

It was really really really really really really COLD here today!!!!!!!!  I DON'T like the COLD!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I am whining.

Seriously, it felt like a winter day in New York, except this is Southern California.

It actually snowed once here at the beach about 10 years ago, It was really amazing.

Drive careful,

Aaron:  Love those thunderstorms and even the nice rain we had Monday morning.  I am used to weather as I am from the midwest so when we get it, I love it!
