For a mere $14, you can take your lease down to the Clark County Recorder's office and record your interest in the property.
You will be notified when a notice of default, breach or trustee's sale is recorded so you can have a heads up that it is time to find a new place.
If you don't have the $14 and a couple of spare hours you can do your own manual search on a monthly basis with instructions right here.
Remember, you need to take a copy of your lease agreement with you!

Goodness. Sign of the times.
In our area, a copy of the foreclosing must be mailed to the property address. That would be a clue for a tenant.
Lenn: Sign of the times it sure is!! Hey, at least they get notified this way. Bank also sees that a little rental skimming may be going on.
Beleive it or not...I'm curious if we can do the same thing here,.....never thought of it. Thankfully all of the tenants that are in some of properties were aware of it.
Neal: Call your local recorder's office and see. Check out my response to Lenn. I wonder if they allow it so the banks know what is up!
That is a smart way to plan ahead... I have heard of that happen here and there where the tenant has no idea the house is about to be pulled from them. It really is a shame that landlords collect the rent but fail to pay the mortgage... now that is really bad !!!
That is a great service during these times of high foreclosures
I wonder if the letters really go out. If banks send notice to the property address, it's probably in the home owner's name so the tenant can't legally open it and know what it says. People sign up to be notified when people get out of jail, and I hear that system hardly ever works... wonder if the $14 will be money wisely spent.
Renee, I have never really given this much thought. I guess the times have changed ... tenants have to worry about their landlord being there a year later.
Hi Renee. I hadn't thought of this. In those circumstances as much notice as possible would be best. i'll have to look into this in my area.
Christopher and Stephanie: Not only is it bad but it is a type of mortgage fraud!
Greg: I just found out about this so I don't know if it is new or if it has been around for a while :)
Donna: Have no idea if it really works. I guess I will wait and see!
David: It's a crazy world we live in!
Pamela: It was really bad starting a little over a year ago and seemed to have peaked in early spring. Hopefully it is getting better but I don't think so with values plummeting!
Interesting times when the renters we are representing are asking about the credit of the owners!
Renee~ This is good information! Renters really should be aware the home they are renting could possibly go into foreclosure. There are a lot of renters out there who really do not realize this!
Renee this is a really great post! Many renters really NEED this information. I have seen SOOOO MANY PEOPLE in the last 12 months that have been in homes they have been renting (paying on time). Only to find out that they have to move SOON because their LANDLARD has NOT been paying their MORTGAGE ontime!
Yikes!
June: Most definitely :-/
Terrie: What's sad, usually it isn't until it is too late!
Katrina: It is a sad world we live in currently. Same here, lots of phone calls. I feel helpless many times but assure them that they are NOT ALONE with what just happened to them!
I think that would be $14 well spent. There's a lot of renters here who have had their homes torn asunder by their landlord's foreclosure that they knew nothing about.
